The Joys of Summer

- Li Bai, Ballads of Four Seasons: Summer

Summer is ideally a time to release into nature, tend to self-care, and gather with friends, particularly after a busy spring. Which part of summer is most joyful and restorative for you? The garden is my sanctuary. Travel, luxuriating by the pool or beach, or quiet al fresco dinners at home may soothe your soul. Here we share a few eternal joys of the season.

Our new Lan Jaenicke clocheStella and Noa hats by Maison N.H. Paris.

We're delighted to debut our first hat made in house - a chic cloche available in two styles, both reversible. The Silk Organza Ribbon Cloche (pictured above) in Black features a unique print by artist James Buckhouse while the Cashmere version features a houndstooth print, reversible in black.  We also love the classic straw hats by Maison N.H. Paris—they have a simple, modern look, and the brim creates a protective halo from the sun.

One of the delightful small joys of summer is finding a juicy new lip shade--my favorite for 2024 is Westman Atelier's Lip Suede in Pip, a saturated poppy red. And never without sunblock, my current go-to is Lightsaver Activated Mineral Sunscreen.

L and R: Painter’s Coat in Clay and Olive in Japanese Typewriter Cotton. Center: Dress Coat in Undyed Japanese Wool Gauze

Whether in Napa or Tuscany, enjoy the sun while shielding yourself with the Undyed Dress Coat in luminous, billowing white, or the Painter’s Coat in featherweight Japanese Typewriter Cotton, available in a range of earthy colors.

My happy place is in the garden, where we grow vegetables, fruit, and herbs that go directly to our table—we were also fortunate to have armfuls of lavender this year. One of my personal pleasures is making a calendula salve for face and hands from our garden flowers and local beeswax. You can also bring the garden indoors with Santa Maria Novella potpourri pots (available in store at Maison).

The Lan Jaenicke Everything bag. The Valentina Bag and Grand Stripe by Maison N.H. Paris

Whether shopping a local farmers market or Les Puces in Paris, an ample bag is a stylish necessity. Our Lan Jaenicke Everything Bag in sturdy cotton is my go-to. I also love Maison N.H. Paris’ handwoven totes.

And don't forget comfy shoes! Repetto's Zizi Oxford is ever-stylish and versatile.  I wear these everywhere.

Happy Summer, friends!
